Wallet Import Guide

Paying with JPYC on Cotrii just takes importing your existing wallet's (e.g. MetaMask) mnemonic into Cotrii's settings — the whole process happens without ever leaving the app. The same steps work on mobile too, with no need to switch to another app.

You won't be creating a new wallet

Cotrii does not issue new wallets. You'll import the mnemonic (a sequence of 12 or 24 English words) from a wallet app you already use, such as MetaMask, or one you set up and back up for this purpose, from Cotrii's settings page. If you don't have a wallet yet, first create an account in a wallet app like MetaMask, store the Secret Recovery Phrase it shows you somewhere safe, then continue with this guide.

Supported networks

Cotrii supports three networks (chains): Avalanche, Kaia, and Polygon. You choose which chain to send from on screen each time you pay. Cotrii covers the gas fee, so you don't need to hold any token other than JPYC. For how to obtain JPYC itself, see the official JPYC website.

STEP 1. Find your mnemonic

  1. Open your wallet app (e.g. MetaMask) and look in its settings menu for an item named "Secret Recovery Phrase," "Mnemonic," or similar. You may be asked to enter your password.
  2. Check the 12 or 24 English words shown on screen. Make sure no one else can see this screen while you do this.
  3. If you don't have a wallet yet, create a new account in a wallet app such as MetaMask, store the Secret Recovery Phrase it shows you somewhere safe, and use that phrase in the next step.

STEP 2. Import it into Cotrii

Once you have your mnemonic, import it from Cotrii's settings page. The steps are the same on PC, Android, and iOS.

  1. Open Settings > Billing, paste your wallet's mnemonic into the mnemonic field, and tap "Import."
  2. On supported devices, you'll be asked to set up biometric authentication (Face ID/Touch ID, etc.). On devices that don't support this, you'll be asked to set up a PIN to confirm payments instead. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete setup.
  3. A signature is then requested automatically to verify wallet ownership. This is not a transfer of funds — it only confirms that the mnemonic you entered belongs to that address.
  4. Once the import finishes, the settings page will show "Connected." From then on, this wallet can be used for every JPYC payment on Cotrii — article purchases, plan purchases, memberships, and tips.

STEP 3. Check or remove the import

Once imported, the wallet section on Settings > Billing will show "Connected" along with your imported wallet address. To remove it, use the "Unlink" button on the same page (this deletes the encrypted data stored on your device, and you'll need to re-import your mnemonic to use it again).

Common issues

It says "invalid format" even though I entered my mnemonic
A mnemonic must consist of 12 or 24 English words. Make sure the words are separated by a single space, with no extra spaces or line breaks. Letter case is normalized automatically.
What if my device doesn't support biometric authentication?
If your device or browser doesn't support biometric authentication, you'll automatically be asked to set up a PIN instead, which will be used to confirm payments from then on.
I want to use my Cotrii wallet on another device
The encrypted data for an imported wallet is stored only inside your browser on that device. To use it on another device, go to Settings > Billing on that device and import the same mnemonic again.
I lost or forgot my mnemonic
Cotrii never stores your mnemonic, so it cannot be recovered on Cotrii's side. Please check the recovery options in your wallet app (e.g. MetaMask), or contact that wallet app's support. Never share your mnemonic with anyone.

A security note

The only place you should ever enter your mnemonic is Cotrii's Settings > Billing page. The mnemonic you enter is encrypted on your own device only and is never sent to Cotrii's servers. If you're ever asked to enter or show your mnemonic anywhere else — email, messages, other sites — treat it as a likely scam. Cotrii and its staff will never ask you for your mnemonic.
